What if it was the beginning of a world that continued to grow alongside you?

Quiztopia started with my daughter.

She loved taking character quizzes online. We'd sit together and find quizzes for her favorite books, movies, TV shows, and video games. Every time she finished one, she'd excitedly tell me which character she got.

Then it was over.

The result disappeared, and we'd move on to the next quiz.

Watching that happen over and over made me wonder why character quizzes always felt like a dead end. They sparked imagination, but nothing came from them.

At the same time, she had fallen in love with cozy games like Animal Crossing and Hello Kitty Island Adventure. She also loved reading, comic books, and discovering new fictional worlds.

Eventually those ideas came together.

Rethinking Character Quizzes

Most character quizzes answer a single question.

"Which character are you?"

I wanted to build something that answered a much more interesting question.

"What happens after you find out?"

Every completed quiz becomes a permanent part of your world. Instead of collecting quiz results, players gradually build a neighborhood filled with characters from their favorite stories, games, movies, and television shows.

The quiz is simply the introduction.

Building A Cozy World

The heart of Quiztopia isn't competition.

It's discovery.

Every new character brings new relationships, conversations, activities, and unexpected interactions. Characters from completely different worlds begin living alongside one another, creating combinations that could never exist in their original stories.

I wanted the experience to capture the same feeling I saw in my daughter when she played cozy games. Not the pressure to win, but the joy of slowly building a world that feels personal.

Designing A System That Could Grow

One of the biggest design challenges was creating a world that could continue expanding without losing its identity.

I designed the underlying systems so new franchises, new residents, and new stories could all become part of the same living world. Instead of feeling like separate quiz packs, every addition makes the world itself feel larger and more interesting.

The goal was to create something that could keep growing alongside the player for years.

Why I'm Proud Of It

Quiztopia is one of the most personal projects I've worked on because it began with someone I love.

It reminded me that some of the best ideas don't come from trying to invent something completely new. They come from paying attention to the way people experience the things they already love.

What started as making better character quizzes for my daughter eventually became an entirely different vision. A world where curiosity leads to discovery, discovery leads to belonging, and every new story becomes part of a much larger one.
